We?re now looking for an enthusiastic Ruby on Rails Developer (m / w) who?s willing to hack on things and not afraid to innovate to get the job done. You have an insatiable thirst for learning new things and enjoy sharing your knowledge. You are organised, clear-headed, willing to tackle the hard problems first, and willing to work closely with other like-minded individuals to achieve success and overcome obstacles. You are creative, and proud of the high-standard to which you work. You bring with you the benefit of experience, and a willingness to compromise on features (but not quality) in order to get things done.

You are highly skilled in the following:

  • Object-oriented programming, principles and practice
  • Server side web development languages, such as Ruby, PHP, Python
  • Web technologies, from low to high level ? HTTP, XHTML, CSS, HAML
  • Frameworks such as Rails, Django, Symphony or Cake
  • Javascript, and frameworks such as Prototype or JQuery
  • MySQL and SQL orPostgreSQL
  • Subversion or Git
  • Test Driven Development and/or Continuous Integration
  • The ability to write code that scales

If you are the perfect candidate, you also have beneficial experience in the following areas:

  • Deep knowledge of Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with high-volume websites (thousands of requests per second)
  • Experience with highly available websites
  • Experience working with a large userbase
  • Hudson / Selenium
  • Scrum / XP
  • Sphinx
  • Cucumber, RSpec
  • Web services, syndication, APIs
  • Experience researching and prototyping
  • Memcached
  • Experience mentoring other developers
  • Experience contributing to Open Source projects
